"This piece is composed of about eight paintings layered on top of one another. As the piece is viewed, more of the underlayers are discovered. I painted certain colors only at particular angles so that the piece changes subtly as it is seen from different viewpoints."

I just love color. I don’t know if it is a feeling I am having or something going on in my life, but I just need to play. This is a prime example of my life in the studio. I loved every moment of making this piece and still get caught up in the colors that seem to play hide and seek behind the vibrant blue.

“People are vibrant. They are highlights and shadows bustling around with goals and aspirations. They change throughout the day as seen in differing lights. They are busy but calm in their ways as they travel through life, souls floating like islands.

I was walking down one of my favorite streets when a beautiful little path I had never noticed before caught my eye. It was lined with flowers and greens that lead around the house to what most certainly was a sweet little garden. It was hidden but a few flowers caught the light and made me smile. I painted this as soon as I returned home.

Inspired by a leisurely walk on a warm evening when the shadows were playful and the last bit of sunlight peaked through the buildings. It is still one of my favorite walks in the city.

This piece was inspired by life in San Francisco. It was a beautiful day, possibly an obscure holiday because more people than usual people seemed to have the day off. I couldn’t get over the vibrancy of the day, all of the colorful people and activities that seemed to be happening in the middle of the afternoon. This was a fun piece to make and always brings me joy when I see it.

Inspired after a trip to New York for a show. The city was on the move, but there was an undeniable calmness to the crazy. The juxtaposition between a calm breath with quick steps was palpable.
